Matthew joined Maple-Brown Abbott as General Counsel in June 2021. Prior to joining Maple-Brown Abbott, Matthew was Executive Legal Counsel at First Sentier Investors. There he provided legal advice to board members and the business on aspects of Australian and international financial services and investment management regulation, focusing on infrastructure investments. Before that, Matthew was a Partner in the investment management team at K&L Gates. He has extensive experience in advising on investment fund formation, marketing and distribution, capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, financial services regulation and Australian corporate law. In his current role, Matthew is responsible for leading Maple-Brown Abbott’s legal function and advising the business on all local and cross-jurisdictional legal matters. He is also admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and to the High Court of Australia.
